0 Replies and 130 Views Boys hitting ground balls  130  0 Started by  Matthew Kray I have 2 sons 14u and 12 u who both can’t stop hitting ground balls. Many times they are sharp and well hit but still consistently not getting any elevation. Does anyone know what flaws to look for or proper drills to help fix this Really frustrating that I am not able to help my sons. Thanks Matthew from Omaha

0 Replies and 1188 Views Rotational slap hitting in fastpitch softball  1188  0 Started by  James McVey My daughter is a left handed slap hitter. When slapping they teach a cross over step so you hit the ball off of your back foot (left) pointing towards the short stop and keeping the pelvis closed to drive the ball into the left side of the infield or gaps. Is there a way to teach slapping with a rotational swing for more power and less use of the hands

3 Replies and 1684 Views Distance from plate  1684  3 Started by  Tyler Barrett With a rotational swing, it seems like you might want to typically be closer to the plate. If you are too far away, you will have a tendency to start casting. Too close and it will too hard to hit the inside pitches. Does anyone have any insight on determining how far away from the plate a player should set up

8 Replies and 1699 Views My 14 U Son's Swing  1699  8 Started by  Matthew Roshkow I post this not in the spirit of getting free hitting advice -- tho I'm always open to good advice -- but in a sort of desperate attempt to sort out the insane damage that my son's first hitting instructor dealt to his swing and ultimately his confidence. Guy was stone cold down and through, hands straight to the ball, Power V at contact, the whole nine yards. My son was 12 at the time. I took him away from that instructor as one might extricate a helpless teenager from a cult. Then spent two...

1 Replies and 1384 Views Dealing with coaches teaching bad mechanics  1384  1 Started by  Tyler Barrett Does anyone have any ideas on how to deal with your son’s coach when he is teaching things contrary to what I am teaching from this site I’ve told my 10U son to verify with me before he tries to implement anything his coach tells him, but I see this getting to be a problem as this season goes forward. For example, he keeps telling my son to keep his elbows down in his ready stance, especially his front elbow. I think he looks like he is just n a very good ready position, but the coach keeps har...

1 Replies and 1933 Views Direct Load Launch??  1933  1 Started by  Steve Johnson I saw this mentioned on baseball fever. Here's a link to the post mentioning it. https://www.baseball-fever.com/forum/general-baseball/baseball-101-coaching-fundamentals/3463513-14u-tee-swing-videop=3465177post3465177 I had never heard the term before and the folks over there are pretty cocky and I don't get the impression they have any interest in actually explaining what it is. I googled the term and only found this discussion of it. http://hittingillustrated.com/forum/entry.php429...
