The advent of tools like HitTrax for measuring balls of the bat have revolutionized certain aspects of hitting instruction.

But there's a problem.

When I see the swings of these hitters discussed, two things are the main subject of discussion...

  • Exit Velocity
  • Launch Angle

...but one, in my experience critical, aspect of the swing is rarely, if ever discussed.

  • Swing Length.

That means the time it takes the hitter to get from Start to Contact.

I know some systems measure this value, but I question the numbers these systems produce because I see too many people (supposedly) doing something that is actually very hard to do.
