You might know me as the guy who said...
I took a look at Acuna's swing.
It is an objectively long swing; basically a golf swing.
That works in golf, not baseball. Braves should sell high on Acuna.
And who was roasted for it.
What was I thinking?!?
I was thinking — because I was SEEING — that Ronald Acuna had a flaw in his swing.
A problem with Swing Length.
Note the phrase "Every clip of Acu(n)a I’ve seen..."
Critical thinking means not being afraid to tell people what they don’t want to hear.
Every clip of Acuna I’ve seen tells me he has an objectively long swing.
As I told the Knockahoma Nation podcast guys, I stand by my assessment of Ronald Acuna's swing.
So what happened?
Up to mid-2018, Ronald Acuna's swing was flawed.
And then something changed.
Near or maybe even over the All-Star Break.
A change that, in large part because of my frustration with what the Cardinals were doing to Tommy Pham at the same time in 2018, I didn't think Acuna was going to make.
If you leave it at that, you're going to miss out on an opportunity to understand the High-Level Swing.
So, what happened?
In sum, at the time I was working with Tommy Pham and trying to get him back to the form that made him a star in 2015 and 2017. At the same time, the Cardinals were trying to coach him OUT of that form. As a result, I doubted whether Ronald Acuna would make the necessary change to his swing, given that it went against to conventional wisdom.
Sadly, in the rush to mock me, people missed out on a chance to understand topics like...
Ronald Acuna Swing Analysis
When people looked at Ronald Acuna's swing, they tended to say things like this.
At the same time, I was saying...
I can't give away all my secrets, but I tried to clue people in.
